Always Asking

Schnitzel is always interested in what is on the dinner menu.

Goodbye Paradise Drive

My mom has moved from her home of 50 years to a smaller more manageable place. I grew up in this house, I didn't get to say my goodbyes. I did send Andrew to help with the move, now I wish I had gone instead! That Basketball hoop has seen two generations and years and years of use.

A Very Welcome Guest

My niece Clare visited for her spring break. We had a great week, chitty chatting, shopping and lunching. Then the boys would come home from school and she would disappear upstairs with them to binge watch tv. We didn't want her to leave.

Isaac had to make a film for Spanish class, demonstrating the making of empanadas.  Basically he would film himself sort of chopping things, while speaking Spanish, then turn the camera off, and I would move in and do the actual work. Shocking. They came out quite good and kind of pretty. He had to take them all to class, so, none for us.

Embarrassed

Sometimes it is just too humiliating for Schnitzel to wear his sweater, he doesn't even want to show his face.

A Sad Thought

The twins have decided that they no longer wish to be altar servers.  I think some of the joy has gone out of it for them since we lost our dear Mairead.  They have been serving for 10 years, which I think is a good effort for sure, and Jack still wants to serve.  When I see other kids come back from college and they are still altar serving,  I think  "ok, what have I done wrong?" I never realized how much it meant to me to see them serving every sunday, and I am so glad that Jack is still in it.

Too Cold

Ted's parents have been in Vietnam for three months; since early in December. Upon leaving, they asked if Ted could stop by sometime while they were gone, to fix their computer, which was acting out of sorts yet again. In other words we had plenty of time to do this.  Well,  they will be home in five days, so of course we had to go running over there this past Saturday to frantically fix the computer. Since they are gone for so long, they turn everything off, including the heat.  The house is freezing, even the carpet is cold to walk on, and fixing the computer takes forever.  So Ted is diligently working away on the computer and I am sitting in the living room, trying to watch TV and frequently yelling, "Is it done yet?!"  I finally had to go outside to get warm in the sun. I clearly did not bring enough layers for this adventure.

On The Lift

Isaac has recently gotten into snow boarding, due to the generosity of good friends, who have been loaning him all the equipment needed to participate in this endeavor.  They even invited him to a skiing/snow boarding holiday at Whistler.  Our snow has been terrible this season, so this was a great treat.  Except for his friend who fell and destroyed his wrist, and had to be brought down the mountain in one of those rescue baskets.  Apparently the basket ride was a trip highlight!  I am (ashamedly) relieved that it was NOT Isaac who smashed up his wrist.
